For Those Who Know Their Black History:

Sam Wilson, better known as The Falcon, was the first African American comic book superhero in mainstream comics in Captain America #117 (September 1969). A native of Harlem, New York, Wilson was a community leader until losing both of his parents to street violence. After a brief stint as a criminal, a “Cosmic Cube” gave Wilson the ability to telepathically communicate with birds and see through their eyes, turning him into The Falcon. The Falcon works closely with Captain America and later became a member of the Avengers.
